Trash
When you delete a file, folder, or other item in Stashii, it moves to Trash first. Trash holds items for 30 days before permanently removing them.
How Trash Works
- Deleted items stay in Trash for up to 30 days.
- After 30 days, items are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
- Emptying Trash or using Delete Forever removes items immediately — this cannot be undone.
- Deleting a folder moves the folder and everything inside it to Trash.
View Trash
On web:
- Click Trash in the sidebar.
- Browse deleted items and folders.
- Use breadcrumbs to navigate into trashed folders.
On mobile:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Trash (trash icon).
- Browse deleted items.
- Use breadcrumbs to navigate into trashed folders.
Restore Items
- Open Trash.
- Select one or more items.

Restored items return to their original location in your Library.
Permanently Delete Items
- Open Trash.
- Select one or more items.
- Click or tap Delete Forever (web) or Delete (mobile).

Permanent deletion cannot be undone. The storage space is reclaimed immediately.
Bulk Actions
You can select multiple items in Trash and apply actions in bulk:
- Restore all selected items at once.
- Delete Forever all selected items at once.
Warnings
- If a trashed item is used in a Space, collection, or project, those references break when the item is permanently deleted.
- Emptying Trash to reclaim storage is immediate — double-check before confirming.
- Items deleted by collaborators in a shared project also appear in the project owner's Trash.
Reclaim Storage
If your storage is full:
- Open Trash.
- Select items you no longer need.
- Choose Delete Forever to permanently remove them and free up space.
See [Settings and Security](./settings-and-security.md) for how to check your current storage usage.
