Library
The Library is your central hub for uploading, organizing, and managing all your media files across web and mobile.
Upload Files
On web:
- Go to Library.
- Click Upload in the toolbar, or drag and drop files directly onto the page.
- Select one or more files from your device.
- Optionally assign tags before uploading.
- Track progress in the upload tray — you can continue browsing while uploads finish.
On mobile:
- Go to Library.
- Tap Import in the header.
- Choose media from your device's photo library or file picker. Multi-selection is supported.
- Review selected items on the Import Media screen.
- Tap Add More to select additional files, or tap Upload to start.
If an upload fails, use the retry option in the upload tray (web) or re-import the file (mobile). Try smaller batches or check your internet connection if retries keep failing.
Supported File Types
Stashii accepts most common media and document formats. Executable and system files are blocked for security.
- Images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, BMP, SVG, ICO, AVIF
- Videos: MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM, MKV, M4V, 3GP
- Documents: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, CSV
- Audio: MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, M4A
- Raw photos: DNG, CR2, CR3, ARW, NEF, ORF, RAF, RW2
Blocked: .exe, .dll, .msi, .bat, .cmd, .ps1, .vbs, .sh, .wasm, .sys and similar executables.
Files are validated by both extension and file signature (magic bytes).

Organize with Folders
On web:
- Click New Folder in the Library toolbar.
- Name the folder.
- Drag items into the folder, or use the Move action from an item's menu.
- Use breadcrumbs at the top to navigate back up.
On mobile:
- Tap the folder creation button in the header.
- Name the folder.
- Move items using the item's context menu (long-press).
- Tap breadcrumbs to navigate up the folder tree.
Folders can be nested as deeply as you need.
Manage Tags
Tags help you filter and organize media across your entire Library.
- Create tags in Settings → Tags.
- Assign tags to any media item from its detail view or during upload.
- Filter your Library by tag using the filter controls.
Tags are workspace-wide — the same set is available everywhere.
Search and Filter
- Search by name using the search bar.
- Filter by type — images, videos, documents, or audio.
- Filter by date — when uploaded or last modified.
- Filter by tags you have assigned.
- AI search — type a natural-language query to find media by description or visual similarity. Save the results as a [Collection](./collections.md).
Switch Between Grid and Table View
- Grid — visual thumbnails for scanning photos and videos.
- Table — file names, dates, sizes, and types in a sortable list.
Toggle between views using the view switcher in the Library toolbar (web) or header (mobile).
Preview and Metadata
- Click or tap any media item to open a full preview.
- Navigate between items using arrow keys (web) or swipe (mobile).
- View metadata including file type, dimensions, size, and upload date.
- For photos, EXIF data (camera, lens, exposure, GPS) is displayed when available.
Bulk Actions
Select multiple items to act on them together:
- Download as a batch (web)
- Move to a folder
- Tag or untag
- Share via public link or People invite
- Delete to Trash
On web, click the checkbox on items or use Shift+click for range selection. On mobile, long-press to enter selection mode, then tap additional items.
